Co-op Nursery at Christ Church
The Cooperative Nursery at Christ Church (CNCC) has been one of Grosse Pointe's premier nursery schools for more than 50 years.
CNCC offers a play-based pre-school program for children who are 3 or 4 years old by December 1 of the fall they enroll in CNCC. Sixteen 3 year olds (Redbirds) meet Tuesday through Thursday mornings, with some children also attending on Fridays. Eighteen 4 year olds (Bluebirds) attend school Tuesday through Friday. Parents of CNCC students take turns working in the classroom along side our four experienced teachers who each have taught at CNCC for more than15 years.
CNCC offers a small class size with emphasis on fun and learning through play. Some activities the children enjoy include show and tell, outside play, creative activities, music, story time, and free play where they can express themselves through the wide variety of toys, games, and dress up activities in our three classrooms. The children learn important life skills such as taking turns, listening while others are talking, and sharing with friends. The Bluebirds follow a kindergarten preparation curriculum which includes learning the calendar, seasons, days of the week, letters, and numbers.
CNCC holds an annual open house in late September. Registration usually takes place from September 15 October 15 one year prior to when a child would attend CNCC. Applications are accepted until the class is full. A waitlist also is maintained.
