Buildings and Grounds Committee

The Building and Grounds Committee is responsible for the oversight of the care and day to day maintenance of the facilities and grounds of Christ Church as well as the planning and execution of additions and improvements.
The Committee, consisting of parishioners as well as the Parish Administrator and Director of Facilities, meets once a month to review the maintenance and construction activities as well as plan for future replacement and refurbishments of existing facility components.

Columbarium Committee
The responsibility of the Columbarium and Memorial Scattering Garden Committee is to oversee the accuracy of records, the purchase of niches, the ordering of bronze plaques, the inurnment of urns, the inhuming of ashes, the maintenance of Columbarium and Memorial Scattering Garden grounds and when necessary, the design, construction and repair of the Columbarium structures.
The Finance Committee's most important goal is to submit an annual Balanced Budget for the General Fund to the vestry for their approval each year. This is accomplished by working with the Rector, Parish Administrator, lay leaders and staff to identify spending priorities and allocate funding as needed. The committee is also responsible for reviewing the results of the annual audit or review completed by the external auditors and ensuring that there are proper financial procedures and controls in place. Communication to the parish of the financial results/status is also a key objective of this committee.
Memorial Gifts and Funds
The All Saints' Fund
Memorial gifts can be made through the All Saints' Fund which provides donors with the opportunity to honor the memory of a deceased loved one and at the same time express sympathy to his or her family. Contributions to The All Saints' Fund may be sent to the church office with a note designating the donor and the person in whose memory the gift is given. Acknowledgment is sent to the family of the deceased and the donor.
The All Saints' Fund enables Christ Church to enhance its worship or education programs in ways that give worthy tribute to the faithful departed. Contact Karen Horn, 313-885-4841 x 110
Special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, confirmations or other times of celebrations are opportunities for people to make contributions to the Thanksgiving Fund. Gifts may be given in honor of a family member, family or friend. The one in whose honor the gift is given is notified by Christ Church and an acknowledgment is sent to the donor. Stained Glass Windows Committee
The Stained Glass Window Committee was formed in July of 2005 for the purpose of documenting all of the Church's stained glass windows by establishing a consistent, written and photographic base from which ongoing maintenance and restoration will be possible.
Our windows are registered with the Michigan Stained Glass Census, a state wide survey of architectural stained glass, sponsored by the Michigan State University museum... The spectacular Clement Heaton-designed window, "Salvator Mundi" (Savior of the World) is the featured window for January, 2007 on the Michigan Stained Glass Census website.
Future goals will be other products such as an audio and video tour of windows, educational materials, note cards, and a web gallery attached to our website.
If you are interested in participating in the Stained Glass Committee at Christ Church, contact Elaine Yates, Curl Tutag, Stuart Grigg, or Mike DeFillipi.
The Virginia Brush Ford Memorial Rose Garden
The purpose of the Virginia Brush Ford Memorial Rose Garden Committee is to ensure the integrity of the memorial gift by maintaining the original design concept and the original choice of plant material. The committee also oversees the care of the garden in cooperation with the Maintenance Department and authorizes the payments from the VBF Trust Fund for maintenance and plant replacement.
