Christ Church Grosse Pointe has a world-renowned Men's and Boys' choir. In addition, an exceptional Girls' Choir provide music for the 9 and 11:15 a.m. services on Sunday mornings from September to June. Boys, ages 8-15, are trained to sing in the manner of English choir boys and rehearse four times weekly. These young boys develop life-long friendships and enjoy working together to produce a fine product. Their singing ability has been recognized for years by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra which invites the choirs to perform with them each year. Thousands of men have enjoyed the 70 yr. old program, and indeed, many of our church leaders began their commitments in the choir.

The Girls' Choir includes young ladies, ages 11-18 and is known for being one of the first in American Episcopal churches to sing with men and has a fully balanced ensemble. Only in the last 15 yrs. have the British cathedrals and now our National Cathedral enjoyed such choirs. The girls rehearse on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

In combination with the Men's Choir, the boys and girls have enjoyed touring in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. There are only a few cathedrals in England at which the choirs have not sung. Trips to France, Switzerland, Italy and Germany have exposed our youth to a rich variety of cultures and musical experiences. In 2005, the choirs performed in Great Britain with stops in London, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. In 2001, the Choir of Boys and Men traveled to Europe on a tour of "Paris to Rome."

The Choirs invite young people to consider this opportunity, regardless of church affiliation, schools or communities. Training includes sight singing, vocal production, performing skills, and ensemble work. Auditions do not require former training and take place each year in September.
