Crop Walk 2011
Walking Away Hunger

Looking for a way to help alleviate causes of hunger in our communities and in the world? Then commit to CROP Hunger Walk 2011. Plan now for a Sunday stroll with your family, your friends, community group, or fellow parishioners! This 32nd annual ecumenical event is held locally on Sunday, May 1.

Assumption Greek Orthodox Church serves as the host congregation for the second year in a row. The walk begins and ends at Assumption, 2180 Marter Road, St. Clair Shores. Commit only one hour or an entire afternoon! Elect to walk 1 mile or 5 miles at your own pace along beautiful Lake St. Clair. What a great activity for folks of all ages who want to be involved in a meaningful event for purposes of alleviating hunger in the world.

Raising awareness regarding hunger is the primary goal of our own TEAM CCGP for CROP. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SOLICIT FUNDS TO PARTICIPATE. However, the sponsoring agency, Church World Services, is committed to sharing any raised funds with local area hunger charities as well as international self-help development initiatives. In 2010, our Grosse Pointe Area CROP Hunger Walk raised more than $33,000. This year's goal is $35,000.
