Posted February 2, 2012 - Interview Committee Update Ted Hagan, Interview Committee Chair, reports the Interview Committee continues to meet weekly, working through the many details and disciplines involved with the interview stage of our rector search. As we continue to work diligently on all these pieces of the process, either together as a full committee, in sub groups, and when necessary with an outside consultant, we are preparing ourselves for the next stage, the interviews. On February 13, we meet with Canon Gray, at which time we will receive the candidate names brought forward from the Bishop's office. At that time, we will turn our attention to the interview process. Please keep us in your prayers.

Interview Commitee: Annual Meeting Remarks

Posted December 15, 2011 - Interview Committee Update For a few weeks now, Christ Church has been officially "receiving names" of rector candidates through the Episcopal Church's Office of Transition Ministry. These names will be funneled to Lisa Gray, Canon to the Ordinary in our diocese. Also, prospective candidates may indicate their interest or request additional information via Rector Search email.
This is the first step for the Interview Committee. We will accept applicants until Dec. 22. At that point, the Bishop's office will review all applicants' materials, perform some basic "red flag checks," and present to the committee the candidates in mid-January. We will then commence with discussion and discernment.
In the meantime the committee continues to meet weekly to further define our process, essay and interview questions, and other planning matters. A simplified depiction of the committee’s steps is posted in the Communication Center. Direct any questions about the process to Ted Hagan or any member of the Interview Committee at Rector Search email.

Posted September 21, 2011 - On behalf of the Profile Committee, I want to thank all those who were able to participate in our focus groups on Sunday, Sept. 11 and other specialized groups last week. We truly appreciate the candid and passionate discussions that took place. The committee is in the process of reviewing that information to clarify some of our thoughts regarding the content of our Parish Profile.
The Profile Committee is in the homestretch of its activities. We have a developed a draft of the profile which is in its initial review, and we anticipate that it should be completed, in its final form, by the end of the month.
The Rev. Canon Lisa Gray, Canon to the Ordinary for our Diocese, has returned from her sabbatical and will soon be joining her peers from dioceses around the country to share our information. Within the next month, we will begin to have our information disseminated through a number of sources to potential candidates.
Our anticipation is that by mid-October the Interview Committee will begin its work as the Profile Committee ceases.
I hope you can appreciate the amount of effort and dedication shown by those on this committee. We have been meeting weekly since we were formed in late April. There has been a tremendous amount of work put into creating and discerning our goals, rector attributes and other information that has become the content of the profile which we look forward to sharing with you soon.
Thank them for being the committee they are, as I do every week.
Ted Hagan, Profile Committee Chair

Posted July 20, 2011 - We understand that there may still be some confusion within the parish regarding the name of the committee working on the search process for our new Rector. Here is a simple explanation:
The “Search Committee” that many of us have known in the past has now been separated by the Diocese into a two-part committee process. The initial committee, the Profile Committee, is the group responsible for telling the Christ Church Grosse Pointe story to prospective rectors via a Parish Profile. This committee consists of those chosen by the Vestry and will be augmented at various times with parishioners who have talents and expertise related to specific aspects of our work to create a Parish Profile.
Upon completion of the Parish Profile, a second committee, the Interview Committee, will begin its work. This group will consist solely of those appointed by the Vestry and will put our profile into action, using it as a tool to work with the Diocese to locate, interview and evaluate candidates for the next rector of Christ Church. It is this group that will ultimately make the recommendation to the Vestry to call a new rector.
Peace, The Profile Committee
Posted July 7, 2011 - Going forward the Profile Committee will use the weekly bulletin and email blasts and the website to update the parish on its progress toward creating Christ Church Grosse Pointe's Parish Profile. As you know, the profile document is the means by which we, as Christ Church, tell our story.
Remember, anything official will be posted as indicated above. If you hear something "in the parking lot" and it's not in print here, it may be a rumor!
Where are we in the process? The committee is following a profile procedure outlined by the Diocese: parish survey, SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats), vestry update, focus groups, and presentation of the completed parish profile. The profile committee meets weekly and, currently, we are reviewing and analyzing the parish surveys which were due June 24, and completing the SWOT analysis.
We thank all who have submitted their survey and encourage those who have not, to do so immediately. Your input is very important! The results from the survey will support the process of building our profile: Who we are, what are our strengths and our opportunities.
Peace, The Profile Committee
Posted June 13, 2011 - The Profile Committee is surveying the parish to assess current ministry strengths and opportunities for improvement, and to understand which ministries are most important to you. This survey is one way the committee is gathering input. Survey results will help the committee to produce a Profile Publication for use during the Rector Search process. The Profile Publication will differentiate Christ Church, describe who we are as a parish, and communicate future aspirations to Rector Candidates. Survey results will also help determine criteria for choosing our next Rector and help the Vestry with operational planning while providing information for future strategic planning.
Each member of Christ Church that is age 16 and older is invited to complete one survey (either electronically or in paper format) by Friday, June 24. Individual survey responses will remain confidential and not associated with an individual member.
To complete the survey online, click here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/CCGP-SurveyLink. To complete it in paper format, you can pick up a survey in the church office.
If you are interested in participating in a focus group to help probe and clarify aggregate information obtained during the survey process, please email kmcnulty10@comcast.net or contact the church office. We thank you in advance for providing your thoughtful responses in this most important process.
Posted May 23, 2011 - By now many of you are aware that, at its March 21 meeting, the Vestry appointed eleven parishioners to serve as the group to search for our new rector. To date we have met six times and I wanted to take this time to update you on both our process and progress to date.
The "Search Committee" that many of us have known in the past has now been separated by the Diocese into a two-part committee process. The initial committee, the Profile Committee, is the group responsible for telling the Christ Church Grosse Pointe story to prospective rectors via a Parish Profile. This committee consists of those chosen by the Vestry and is augmented with parishioners with specific talents, who we have asked to help us on our "work teams," to help pull the many parts of this profile together.
Upon completion of the Parish Profile, a second committee, the Interview Committee, will commence its work. This group will consist solely of those initially appointed by the Vestry and will put our profile into action, using it as a tool to work with the Diocese to locate, interview and evaluate candidates for the next rector of Christ Church. It is this group that will ultimately make the recommendation to the Vestry to call a new rector.
The Profile Committee's overall objective is to distill into words and pictures a portrait of ourselves and the rector we seek providing a glimpse, if you will, into our past, present, and future. Drawing upon the work done by the Moving Forward Committee and other congregational summits, the end-product will be a multi-faceted synopsis of who we have been, who we think we are, and what we believe we want to be in the years ahead. This should take the form of printed material, updates to our website, and other media.
Our goal is to complete this profile work by September so that the Interview Committee can begin their work. There is not, however, a rigid time line. Many are anxious to have a new rector in place as are we. But doing a thorough job of creating our profile and evaluating and selecting a potential rector is paramount.
Over the next few months there will be many opportunities to share your thoughts with the Profile Committee. Our plans are to build the Parish Profile via a number of means including surveys and small group meetings. We will be providing regular updates in Crossings, the weekly bulletin and on the Christ Church website. Look for invitations to participate and let all our voices be heard.
Our committee asks for your continued prayers for our parish and as we do for our committee.
O God, you led your holy apostles to ordain ministers in every place: Grant that Christ Church Grosse Pointe, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, may hear your voice to call the person for ministry of the Word and Sacrament in this community. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Sincerely
Ted Hagan, Chair for the Profile Committee

Posted March 25, 2011 - At its March 21 meeting, the Christ Church Vestry appointed the following people to serve as the parish's Rector Search Committee: Libby Candler, Richard Gibson, Ted Hagan, Scottie Knight, Paula Labadie, Polly Ledyard, Mindy MacGriff, Kim McNulty, George Nicholson, Blair Osborn and David Redfield. Subsequent to the election, the committee met and selected Ted Hagan as its chairperson.
In addition to ultimately recommending a single nominee to the Vestry to potentially be called as rector, the Committee will appoint a Profile Committee to pull together a statement of the parish's mission and vision. Parishioners will get to read and comment on this statement before the Vestry adopts and the Committee publishes it.
