MOPs (Mothers of Preschoolers)

Celebrating motherhood while making community connections

What is MOPs?

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is an international Christian organization that offers support and fellowship to moms from pregnancy through kindergarten. You do NOT need to be a member of Christ Church to be a member of MOPS.

Our monthly meetings include speakers, discussions, creative activities, and opportunities to network with other moms from the community in the same season of life. During the meetings, children enhance their own social skills during play under the care of our Moppets caretakers in the church preschool rooms doing planned activities.  Reworded section: Babies younger than eight months are welcome in the childcare rooms but are welcome to stay with their mother during the meeting if they choose while older children are suggested to take advantage of the childcare opportunity so the mom can relax.

Some past speakers/topics have included a variety of topics such as:

  • Local organizations like the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy/DNR and the GPPL to share available family-friendly activities.
  • Mental Health professionals on Wellness in Motherhood, Postpartum Disorders, Children and Screen use, Childhood delays, Marriage
  • Promotion of selfcare and relaxation from local establishments
  • Opportunities to socialize and enjoy creative opportunities with fellow members
  • Talks by local authors, family photographers, Nutritionists, Meal planning/Saving experts
  • Parenting philosophies like Love & Logic
  • Opportunities for Community Service
  • Conversation panels with local community members on topics such as raising Elementary/teen children down the road, deciding about going back to work after having children

Where & When?

MOPS meetings are held at Christ Church in the Undercroft, generally on the first Monday of the month during the program year with other social events happening throughout the month such as playdates, monthly Moms Night Out, and monthly Kids Day Out events/activities.

How do I join?

Contact our MOPS Coordinators: fill out form at bottom of page and an email will be directly sent.

Become A MOPS Member: $70 per year (We run Sept-June) with registration form (Check made payable to Christ Church Grosse Pointe, memo: MOPS) which includes 9 meetings with childcare, membership to MOPS International, and opportunities for other events, both with kids and without. Unfortunately, we do have to max membership if we reach capacity on childcare space.  If we are at capacity, you will be informed of that upon your inquiry.

If you'd like to come to a meeting and check it out before registering, please do! If you'll need childcare during that meeting, please contact us using our CONTACT FORM so we can ensure there is enough staffing. We are currently registering for the 2018/2019 term.

If joining midyear, reduced membership may apply. Please inquire.
