Serve in the Community

The call of Christian service is not only to the church, but, even more, to the world.  As members of the Grosse Pointe and metro-Detroit community, Christ Church members are involved in countless ministries across Detroit.  As a community, Christ Church also organizes several service projects and opportunities throughout the year with our various ministry partners.  For more information about our outreach ministries, or to suggest a new partnership or opportunity, please contact the Joseph Daniel, 313-885-4841 ext 107, or rectorsadmin@christchurchgp.org.

Crossroads Soup Kitchen

Check back for next service date

Crossroads of Michigan is a social services agency that provides counseling services, transportation assistance, food and clothing to people in need in the Detroit area. Its biggest outreach program is a soup kitchen that serves between 600 and 700 people every Sunday.

We prepare and serve lunch at Crossroads. The morning shift will cook a huge pot of chili, put together hundreds of sandwiches and get everything ready. The afternoon shift serves the meal and cleans up afterwards.

There are 40 spots available - 20 for each shift.

Take Them a Meal

Friends and family taking meals to those in need.

Sometimes our friends and community members are going through a transitional time – perhaps they have pastoral needs, such as an illness (hospitalization or rehabilitation) or experienced a loss in the family, or maybe they have a new baby.  If you would like to help this family by assisting with meals for a period of time, please fill out the form below and we will contact you and the recipient to finalize the details.

Carstens Literacy Initiative

A new Christ Church Service Ministry beginning in October, 2019

We’d love to introduce you to our friend Mia. In 2nd grade she was reading at 2nd grade level. After 5 months of one-on-one mentoring twice a week, she was reading at a 4th grade level. She gained 2 years in 5 months.

Literacy matters and we at Hope House Detroit know the difference mentoring makes in reading, self-confidence, and personal growth. Christ Church has been invited to share in reading at Carstens!
