We hope you’ll consider making Christ Church your spiritual home.

Membership is not required to be part of our spiritual community; anyone who worships with us on a regular basis is a part of this congregation, whether or not they officially become a member. However, everyone is invited and encouraged to join Christ Church through transfer of membership from another church, baptism, or confirmation at Christ Church.

Become a Member

Transfer of Membership
Baptized members of another church may transfer their membership to Christ Church by sending an email to or completing the Membership Information Form on line.
The basic requirement for membership in any Episcopal Church is baptism.  The Episcopal Church recognizes the baptism of Christians through all other Christian denominations.  Written notification of baptism (via letter or signed certificate) from another Christian church is sufficient.  People seeking to be baptized at Christ Church may contact one of the clergy members or call the church office at 313-885-4841.
"Confirmed" indicates that a person has made a mature, public affirmation of faith which has been confirmed by an Episcopal Bishop through the laying on of hands.  When someone has been confirmed in another Episcopal congregation, a letter of membership can be transferred from the previous congregation.  When someone has been confirmed by a Bishop in a Roman Catholic, Lutheran, or Eastern Orthodox Church, that person may be received by an Episcopal Bishop in a service.  At Christ Church, we offer this annually with the visitation of our bishop, the Rt. Rev'd Wendell Gibbs, on the Day of Pentecost.
Our Adult Confirmation and Inquirers' Class, "The Catechumenate", seeks to prepare adults for Baptism, Confirmation, or to be received into The Episcopal Church.  These classes, which begin each fall and continue through the spring, are held on Wednesday evenings as part of Wednesdays at Christ Church.  The Catechumenate is for any adult who wishes to be confirmed in The Episcopal Church, for any confirmed Episcopalian who wishes to learn the basics of faith, and for anyone who simply wants to explore what we believe.  The Catechumenate explores the basics of Christianity (God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the history of the Church, etc.), the biblical story of faith, as well as the way The Episcopal Church lives out our core faith through worship according to The Book of Common Prayer, Bible study, and service to others.  Registration is required.

For more information email or call 313-885-4841, ext. 107.
