Upcoming Events at Christ Church
Adult Christian Formation: All adults are welcome to participate in our Christian Formation offerings. The Winter-Spring 2010 brochure includes schedules for Adult Forums, Bible Study, Tuesdays Together and Purple Perspectives.
Quiet Day for Women - All women of the parish and community are invited to a Quiet Day, Saturday, February 13, 9 am -3pm in the Undercroft at Christ Church. The theme of the day is "Draw Close to Me" and will include reflections, meditative activities and prayer. Lunch is included and a free will offering will be received to help cover the costs of the event. Quiet Day is sponsored by Daughters of the King. Please RSVP to Mil Hurley or Martha Williams.
- Celtic Evensong & Communion: Sunday, February 14 at 4:30pm. Join us for services of traditional Celtic music and liturgy drawn from ancient communities such as Iona and Lindisfarne.
- Choral Evensong: Sunday, February 21 at 4:30pm featuring The Christ Church Schola.
- Concert: Music for a Holy Lent - Sunday, February 28 at 4:30pm featuring the Lakeshore Chamber Singers.

Growing as a Couple February 19-21, March 19-21, and Final Sessions TBA. (Fridays, 6:30-9:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday sessions, 9 am-5 pm. Want to build a foundation for a loving and lasting relationship? Join facilitators Ron and Jackie Spann for this three-part workshop and learn to listen to your partner from their deepest self, and to share more of yourself. You will reflect on what you experience in your relationship in order to clarify the bond that draws you together. You will also grow in awareness of the behaviors that block your growth as a couple. Purple Perspectives: Mission in the Marketplace. Tuesdays in Lent - February 23 - March 23 6:30-7:30pm. Focusing on hope in the midst of challenging times, Mission in the Marketplace shows us how to identify our values and to reflect on ways in which they intersect our lives - the way we live our faith each day in our homes, schools and work places. A varied and talented slate of speakers share how their approach to the marketplace (career, money, ideas, relationships) reflects their life's mission (faith, family values, spiritual well-being). Benefit Recital - Friday, March 12, at 7pm. Dr. Eldonna May and Dr. Norah Duncan perform a concert at CCGP to benefit Bound Together Detroit and the WSU Music Department Scholarship Fund. Called Now and Then... Music for Oboe & Organ, the program offers a dynamic combination of "reeds and pipes," showcasing the growth and development of instrument technology and compositional processes with respect to the oboe and pipe organ.
Estate Sale Preview Party Thursday, March 18, 6-8:30 pm. General Public Sale Friday-Saturday, March 19-20. Intake hours for donations: Wednesdays (beginning Feb 10), 6 - 8 pm; Saturdays (beginning Feb 6) are 9 - 11am at 276 Mirabeau (off Kerby Road) in GPFarms.
New Support Group The Michigan Alzheimers Association has approached Fr. David about starting a support group in the Pointe's area, as none exist under their auspices. If anyone is interested in being trained by the association as a facilitator, please contact Fr. David. The one-day training session is set for Thursday, March 18. Watch for more information in upcoming bulletins.
26th Annual Christ Church Antiques Show
The Antiques Show raises funds to support our Music and Outreach programs at Christ Church, bringing God and people together to know and live the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is an educational and collecting event where ideas, expertise and passion for antiques, music and culture can flourish.
Save the date for June 4-6, 2010 with a Preview Party and Silent Auction on Thursday, June 3. This year’s speaker is renowned designer Barry Dixon who specializes in high-end residential interiors world-wide. Antiques Show gift certificates make a perfect gift any time and are available in the church office. Also, It's not too early to begin thinking about donations to our Silent Auction.
Please wear your Christ Church name tags which can be ordered in the Cloister Bookshop. Cost is $9.00.
